What Not To Do In Your LinkedIn Messages or Cold Emails

Start any sentence with: we, I, or my company.

Talking about yourself or what your company does won’t trigger a response.


Instead, focus your message on talking about your prospect. Things you’ve researched about them and questions to learn more about them.


✖️Don’t say: “Hi Collin, my company DataXYZ provides the most accurate lead data.”


✔️Do say: “Hi Collin, the growth of your SDR team this year is impressive. Curious what tools you use to provide them with accurate lead data?”


The longer you wait to start pitching, the more likely you engage your prospect in a real conversation.


Sales isn’t about you, it’s about your prospect. Your messaging should reflect that.
