Why The VC Hiring Model Is Completely F'd Up

The VC hiring model: We need a VP / C-Level who has experience going from Series A to Series B. Then a VP / C Level who has experience going from Series B to C. Then from C to IPO... ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Reality is, all of those hires at some point went through those stages for the first time. And guess what, they did it. And they probably did it better the first time than the second or third. And they cost a heck of a lot less the first time around. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Focus less on how many times they’ve done it and more on how hard they’re going to work to figure it out. There’s no such thing as a rubber stamp in SaaS. In most cases you’re better off with someone who isn’t assuming they know everything, and instead is hungry enough to learn everything. Want someone who tells you every day about their last company? Or want someone who focuses every day on YOUR company? There’s no blueprint for success. There’s no two companies alike. There’s only hard work. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Want some evidence? How many stories do you hear about first time successes? A lot. How many do you hear that did it two times? Very few.
